

The name derives from Śata, which means a hundred in Sanskrit.

Garikapati Narasimha Rao was born in Bodapadu Agraharam, Tadepalligudem mandal, West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. He also presents religious shows on Telugu channels. He conducted Avadhanam with 1116 Pruchchakas or Pricchakas for 21 days in Kakinada in 1996, and remained a great Avadhani artist since 1990s. Garikapati Narasimha Rao has memorized a huge collection of poems, and owns the ability to recite in public. Avadhanis are widely respected in the society for their extreme abilities to memorize beyond normal human capabilities.
